Type 191

The Bristol Type 191 was a tandem-rotor helicopter designed to meet a Royal Navy requirement for general purpose ship-based helicopter. Based on the Type 173, it would be capable of carrying 16 passenger or equivalent cargo.

Mk.1 - two 850hp Alvis Leonides Major engines. 3 ordered and built, but the order was cancelled before any flew.All 3 were used as ground test airframes.
Mk.2 - two 1,465hp Napier Gazelle engines. 65 ordered, but the order was cancelled before any were built.

The cancelled 191 Mk.2's were allocated c/ns 13277 to 13341, and Royal Navy serials   XG357 to XG441.
